I threw up on the way home from work last night. I also feel my third migraine of the WEEK coming on. I am seriously unable to function. I am hurting.

Paul Talley (ETSU 1981) and Matt Johnson (TAMUC 2003) were killed in
a plane crash Tuesday night while on a flight from St. Louis to
Kirksville, MO.
Paul was well known for his College and University "slice of life"
illustration. Recently he did 2 tours here for our Marketing and web
site people. Paul had a knack for capturing campus life and for
setting up believable photo-journalistic style images. I had been out
of touch with Paul for many years, as his career took off, and was
just recently lucky enough to renew an old friendship with him.
Having lunch with him several months ago made us both feel like the
many years had been a much shorter time. He, like many of you when we
talk, had many good memories and anecdotes from hid days at school.
Few photographers have the talent to go to an area 'blind" and come
out with images that seem to capture the essence of life in that
place. Paul was able to do it seemingly without effort, though we can
all appreciate the knowledge one has to have to be successful. Some
of his most recent work for us is on the web site at
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu.
Matt came to campus as a Journalism major and transferred into
Photography. He had taken photo classes with Rufus Lovett(1976) at
Kilgore JC and decided to try some more photography here. Matt was an
engaging, intelligent and truly funny person. He had a personable
style and was just starting to work through the ranks of
assistantship. He had worked with Paul previously while Paul was
shooting here and they were both heading to a campus in Kirksville to
continue their work when the plane went down. Matt worked in
Check-Out while attending TAMUC and was involved in virtually every
workshop or program we offered, or attended, these last few years.
Even after graduation he continued to attend recruitment workshops
for the department. Matt was the quintessential good kid in school.
Everybody that met Matt liked him.
We will all miss our two friends. I guess as we get older, and our
group of acquaintances enlarge, we will be forced to deal with these
kind of tragedies and sadness more often. My time here has taught me
to enjoy the good these people have brought to me.
As soon as I have final information on funerals or memorials I will
send out an email.
Please think of their families and loved ones during these tragic times.

Rest in Peace Matt. I was lucky to work side by side with you at school. You were truly the person that was most like Jesus and you didn't even have to try.
Full Story
10.19.2004
I had a weird moment friday night that I just remembered. David and I were driving down 30 heading back home from our buddy Wim's house after some Texas Hold 'Em. I glance out the window and notice we are passing a red Grand Prix and for some reason I look at the liscense plates and I KNOW them. They are MINE. Well not MINE anymore. I had just sold that car that I had driven for 8 years to CarMax (the way car buying should be) and there it was puttin' along I-30. It was really odd to watch someone else drive my first and only car (until we inherited the Volvo). It's the same type of feeling as seeing the people who now occupy your childhood house. Your glad you got something better, but you feel like you still belong to it, even though you willingly dumped it in someone elses lap.
So many stories with that car.
My parents saw cigarette burns on the backseat and threatened my LIFE and made me clean that car inside and out and if they ever found so much as an ash they would seriously KILL me. I believed them.
My senior year my Dad was frantically calling the school looking for me because he had seen my car driving towards Dallas in the middle of a school day and he wanted to know if I had skipped (so he could KILL me) or if someone had stolen my car. I was at school and so was my car. Dad got all wound up for nothing.
It got me back and forth from Commerce to home so that I could spend time with my boyfriend/fiance that junior and senior year of college.
After we got married that car got broken into in broad daylight right outside of our apartment. The joke was on them, the cd player they ripped out of the dash was broken, it only served as a radio.
Bye little red sedan.

If you didn't understand my last post, I truly think Anne Geddes might be the Antichrist and I KNOW Celine Dion is the Beast.

1 John 2:18 - Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour.

I've been inspired to start writing to Kennedy in a journal so she can read it when she is older and catch up on the stuff I was saying to her and all the love I was lavishing on her. I think she would like that.
Subject: Prayer request for Gary and Cindy Hogan
Gary is serving in Iraq while his young wife is fighting cancer here.

My name is Gary Hogan. Some of you receiving this know me, some do not. My wife,
Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed 3 days ago with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim. She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried recently at 3 months, and now we know why.
This is a request for you to forward this e-mail to everyone you know asking for
prayer. The more people that pray for her to be healed, the better. Pray and forward. It only takes a second to hit "forward". Please do it and don't delete this, your prayer can and perhaps will save her life. Please pray and ask everyone you know to pray for the HEALING of Cindy, removal of all cancer in her body so she may enjoy all that life has to offer, and to continue to be the wonderful mother to our 5 year old son, Michael.
The power of Prayer is unsurpassed I want the whole world to have her in their prayers the next few weeks. God will hear our cry. Please do not be offended by my plea. This is only a request for your help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and helping with our request for healing.! No words can express the power we have when we each do a little to come together.
Regards,
Cindy's in-love husband - Gary
