After David's experience with the electric company last night, I was a little weary of calling the phone and water companies today. I don't know if it's David's dumb luck, but every call I have made to major companies that I have some kind of account with, I have had a smooth experience. This morning's calls were quick and painless, which I think was by the grace of God, since I've been getting my feathers ruffled at everything that isn't going the way I planned. I'm usually only mildly like this, but this move is magnifying all of my personal flaws. Poor David thinks he's in trouble all the time, when really things just come out of my mouth all wrong.

Back to packing and cleaning.

Subbing again today for the photo kids. The long term subbing for them hasn't started yet. I really really hope that we finish the packing tonight so I can clean the place tomorrow. I refuse to accept a sub job tomorrow. There just isn't TIME. I NEED more TIME!

i'm not freaking out.

I haven't had any caffeine and I'm starting to fade. I hope a Dr. Pepper appears in front of me soon.

I got to lecture about infrared film today. I finally got to use some knowledge that came with my degree. It was exciting.

Thank you thank you thank you to those of you who have responded to our need for help on Saturday. It gives me peace of mind if I know ahead of time who is going to be there and when. I can then organize my thoughts.

Moving day is closer and closer...we close tomorrow!!!!

I got to see Little Bean briefly yesterday and it was so unbelievable. I can't wait until February 11 when I get to see him/her again. I can finally classify their gender and I don't have to say one or the other or both and people can stop asking me that question.

My parents are truly amazing people, I hope that David and I are a fraction of the greatness that is Steve and Wayneen.
Subbing again...this time for photo kids...unplanned. Reg is home sick with his daughter and his 8-almost-9-month-pregnant wife is teaching next door to my classroom.

I am now a crazy high school substitute. My christening began on Wednesday and is ending today. I subbed for David on Wed. and I found these kids easier to manage than the elementary kiddos. Today I have freshman english, the first class more talkative than the second, the second quite zombie like. I predict the next will be asleep the whole time since it is after lunch and we are reading Great Expectations.

We are watching the old british movie adaptation of G.E. and one of the kids pointed out the Gimli the dwarf plays Joe, Pip's guardian. Now I'm distracted since all I hear is Gimli.

I am now awaiting the recieving of the school lunch on a styrofoam tray, but I have to wait until David stops explaining to the chess club what a King's Gambit is.

David got to feel the baby kick last night. It was a really exciting moment for both of us. I finally got to share with him what I had been feeling and he got to experience our baby for the first time since hearing the heartbeat.
I saw this on the Sharon Osborne show with Mandy Moore. It was a clip from a new movie producer Michael Stipe is sending to Sundance Film Festival called Saved!. Here's what Tim at E-Church had to say. Here is the Sundance Info. The ever wonderful Patrick Fugit from Almost Famous and indie starlet Heather Matarazzo from Welcome to The Dollhouse appear in this movie.

Mel Perez asked me to substitute for her elementary art class, which occurred yesterday. I had first, third, and fifth graders. Boy are the fifth graders in BIG trouble with Mrs. Perez today. I gave her full report last night on the phone. I also told her never to give me weather videos to show the older kids, because all they do is make fun of it and talk the whole time (which is why they are in trouble today). I survived just fine, and will possibly take on David's notorious "A" day students next week.
I have been getting some serious kicks in the mommy pocket yesterday and today. Someone needs to tell my child that kickboxing should occur OUTSIDE the womb. But seriously, it's very exciting, my baby is getting bigger and stronger. I can't freakin' wait until the sonogram.

Played a little poker last night. Good times. I walked away with my dignity and 3 of the 5 dollars I bought in with. I can't say the same for others. :( Poor Shafer.

samurai kitties???

Nothing like a nice evening of conversation with two of our friends and some pineapple pizza. I had a great time just chillin and poking fun at David, in which Kausar gave me merit.

I pride myself on a good burn...I just can't imagine why David has such a self esteem problem...

Anyways, thanks again Kausar and Emily.

"Cussing evangelist brings gospel to the vulgar" via Lark News

To date, Balfour says he's seen several dozen people come to the Lord at bars, ball games and dance clubs, some of them cussing their way through the sinner's prayer.
"I'll put my hand on their shoulder and they'll say, 'Lord, I'm an a**hole. I've f***ed up my life pretty bad. Please forgive all the s*** in my past. I give you my future,'" he says. "Then they'll smile and hug me and say, 'D***, that's the f****** awesomest feeling I've ever had.'"
If I have to talk to one more insurance company...

David and I want to get ourselves and our child into a church when we move. As many of The Legion can attest to, it's hard to find a church you can call home after feeling utterly alienated from your previous gathering and in "Christianity" in general. I'm thinking we'll check out Grace Community Church on Park Row across from Arlington. Not only are they down the street from our home-to-be, but it also uses the Meyer's Briggs Personality Test to help determine where you belong in service to the church. :) It started out as a community group in the late 80's and has grown quite a bit since then. I like the fact that they have 3 spanish sermons available during the week; it doesnt seem to be a "WASP" church.
Considering I got weepy during the trailer I'll have to bring a box of tissues to the theater.
My mom gave me a year's worth of Real Simple magazines to go through for interior ideas. I have started a notebook and I am seeing the Martha Stewart monster coming out. All I need now is to get my hands on Dan's back issues of Dwell.
Doing better today. Our house inspection went really well, the insepector (who was quite the nitpicky fellow, thank goodness) told us we were getting a wonderful house for the age of it. There are just a few things we are going to ask them to fix, but otherwise the house is in amazing shape. YAY!
I am so pumped to get into that house. This was a definite yearning at 5 am this morning when someone's car alarm kept tripping every 30 seconds and then a car pooler kept honking their damn horn for at least 10 minutes before the rider came out. GET OUT OF THE CAR AND KNOCK ON THE DOOR! geez.

I hit a patch of depression last night. I was watching Queer Eye and folding clothes and I just got up and walked into Dave's office and moped around until he noticed me. He pointed out that it was the first day I've had downtime since the Baby/House/Holiday craziness. I'm not specifically depressed about these things at all, I just haven't had a restful day in 2 or 3 weeks. So David hugged me while I cried a little. Then, I gathered my paint samples, design books, and pencil and started house planning.

Out way too late last night.

Thanks to K for tolerating the madness brought on by the Willis and Co. The movie was 70's and funny/rediculous, nothing all that bad. Shafer, finally better after an entire month of the flu, was ready to hit the town and get the ladies, so he and Clint did not attend the cinematic luridness.

3-D glasses give me a headache.

I will be selling some of my artwork at the comicbook convention this saturday. See David's blog for details. Admission is free.

Thanks to the Hughes family for a great evening of trading stuff; we had a wonderful time and appreciate your hospitality. Thanks also to the Bens for the hors d'oeuvres and semi-automatic gunfire. Vive la East Grand Avenue!
